Preparing camping meals in advance makes it much easier to cook and enjoy good food while RVing or camping. Many of our recipes can be fully or partially made in advance, which is where these freezer storage containers come in.

​We’ve listed a variety of sizes and types of containers to hopefully meet the needs of different campers. While freezer meals are, of course, easiest to maintain in an RV, you can also store frozen food in a quality camping cooler. Some coolers will keep it frozen for days!

5 Best Meal Prep Containers

While our focus is on the best containers for camping, these products are great for meal prepping for home, too. So, we focus mainly on plastic containers and plastic bags but also include glass containers. Especially since we know some RVers who are strongly opposed to plastic ware.

You may have expected us to start the list with hard-cased freezer-safe storage containers. However, bags are king when camping. When working with a small freezer, fridge, or cooler, the flexibility of plastic freezer bags really comes in handy.

The key is to freeze your food flat! Then, you can easily slide, stack, and organize the frozen food as needed. 

2. Stasher Bags

Stasher bags are also popular in the food storage game. They are “the original silicone resealable storage bag” that come in many sizes and colors. 

They’re microwave-ready, dishwasher safe, freezer friendly, oven strong, and stovetop safe. They even have a stand-up bag that stands on its own with a wide base.

As you can see, they’re very versatile bags. They’re a bit pricier but will last use after use after use.

We’d be remiss to list freezer storage bags without including two very nifty freezer bag accessories. The first helps you prep, and the second helps you organize!

Souper cubes are (you guessed it!) like giant ice cube trays for soup portions. They come with plastic lids so you can stack them and keep the soup contained until it’s frozen.
